This course comprises two options:
- Mountain refuge warden
- Gîte manager
Mountain refuge warden option
Huts are an essential part of mountain tourism, particularly with the growth in hiking and the development of nature tourism. Shelter wardens need to be professionalized, so that they can provide tourists with a quality service and meet their needs, while at the same time fulfilling their public service responsibilities in a professional manner (reception, surveillance, alerting emergency services, collaborating with weather services, advising and informing users, offering shelter, informing users about respect for the environment). To this end, the training has four objectives:
- Training mountain hut wardens for tourism functions;
- To provide the necessary accounting, marketing, legal, communication and IT skills to enable refuge keepers to manage and market their facilities effectively.
- Train mountain experts to collaborate with the rescue and weather services and deliver the necessary information to users and the relevant services;
- Manage, maintain and enhance the environmental quality of the refuge and its site, while raising awareness among customers.
B&B manager option
Practiced by one in three French people, nature sports and leisure activities are an economic sector in their own right. It is capable of generating significant resources for professionals and regions, as well as building an attractive tourist image. To achieve this, it is necessary to structure the offer to satisfy customers and optimize the spin-offs. Accommodation, often seen as the pivotal element in the organization of a stay, is central to this structuring. Because of their location, B&B managers are often directly affected by the boom in outdoor activities, and this has an impact on the direction of their business. There are strong similarities between their activities and those of refuge wardens, but there are also differences linked to their location (sites accessible by car) and to the wider possibilities of outdoor activities. To this end, the training objectives are fourfold:
- Train B&B managers in tourism functions;
- Provide them with the accounting, marketing, legal, communication and IT skills they need to effectively manage and market their accommodation;
- Train professionals who are familiar with their environment, their territory and outdoor activities, so that they can collaborate with professionals to deliver the necessary information to users and the services concerned, and adapt their offer to practices;
- Manage, maintain and enhance the environmental quality of its accommodation and territory.
