This unique training program in France takes two years to complete. It prepares young baccalaureate holders for a career through a work-study program. The first year is an initial training course, the second a sandwich course. With this experience, the student becomes a young professional and can join the world of work. They can also enroll in a bachelor's program and refine their career plans.

Objectives for the DEUST Welcoming excellence in tourism

This 2-year training program combines academic knowledge with a professional approach, to train professionals in the tourist industry. The second year is spent as an apprentice, alternating between 15 days and 15 days. After obtaining their DEUST Accueil d'Excellence en Tourisme, students will be able to :
  • carry out administrative functions, manage the back office, manage room availability in real time using reservation software, and adapt rates to the number of visitors.
  • welcome, accompany and advise French and foreign customers on tourism-related services.
  • promote and sell tourism products, develop e-commerce projects linked to the sale of tourism site products and local products.
  • negotiate with partners.
  • animate the social networks of a tourist site
  • master digital tools and network management.

Job opportunities professionals

On completion of the DEUST, students will be able to join a company, association or institution in the tourism sector, in jobs related to welcoming and accompanying travelers. They will be able to work in the reception departments of tourist sites (museums, tourist caves, amusement parks/animal parks, company visits...) or tourist offices, in travel agencies, incoming agencies or coach operators, in associations helping people to go on vacation (Secours populaire, Secours Catholique, Vacances et Familles...), with tourist service providers (online booking sites, bicycle rental companies...), as holiday advisors, travel advisors, sales, reservations...

Profile of the applicant

A sense of welcome and customer service, a desire to invest in the tourism and hospitality sectors and to participate in their development, are essential qualities for joining this training program. High standards, rigor, listening skills, empathy and benevolence are the qualities needed to succeed.
