Training objectives

The "Licence Professionnelle Guide conférencier " prepares students to help organizations (cultural establishments, companies, local authorities, etc.) to design and implement their sales, promotion and, above all, tourism enhancement policies (presentation, interpretation and promotion of French cultural heritage). In this increasingly competitive sector, professions are rapidly evolving and becoming more professional. Specialized skills are therefore required in the fields of monument knowledge, site architecture, history and art history, reception and guiding techniques, intercultural management and digital technology. Welcoming visitors with special needs is becoming an increasingly appreciated skill (the elderly, the disabled, young visitors, foreign visitors).

The LP "Guide conférencier" allows the holder to obtain the "carte préfectorale de guide conférencier", which allows him to organize tours inside monuments and museums. Possible activities are rich and varied: Guide, Guide-Conférencier, Heritage lecturer, Tour coordinator, Promotion of local tourism within tourist institutions, Cultural animation, Independent tour organizer (families, groups, individuals), Heritage mediator, Tourist guide on cultural and linguistic tours.

Profile of the applicant

To enter the LP Guide Conférencier program, candidates must hold at least a Bac+2 in one of the following fields: art history, LEA, archaeology, cultural mediation, communication and tourism. They may also hold a BTS in tourism or an equivalent diploma (preparatory class, BUT, BTS in hotel management or catering). For entry through continuing education, candidates must be able to demonstrate 4 years' experience in the field, acquired through salaried or self-employed activity. Candidates are admitted to the LP after a review of their application and an interview.
