Training objectives

  • Scientific objectives: the course aims to provide a broad cultural background based on knowledge of the historical, artistic, literary and geographical culture and heritage of France and Europe. It provides the keys to reading and analyzing the components of civilizations, mastery of chronological and geographical landmarks, knowledge of the main currents in art history and the major movements in literature and thought, identification of cultural and heritage "hot spots", and a methodology for observing and analyzing landscapes.
  • Linguistic objectives: the training aims to enrich the communication skills of students and future professionals, both in French and in at least one foreign language. Foreign civilizations are explored through linguistic, artistic and cultural means, fostering a global approach and understanding.
  • Professional objectives: future guide-lecturers are trained to take charge of groups of French or foreign tourists, in France or Europe, whether at sites and monuments, on the public highway, in a coach or in a city. This training provides the keys to analyzing the behavior of French and foreign tourist clientele, as well as the knowledge required to manage the chain of services linked to welcoming, accompanying, guiding, scheduling and managing visits, tours and itineraries.
